Lunch at Big Jones

Happy Monday!!!

Its MLK day and the look alike and I decided to call up some friends to see if they wanted to do lunch at Big Jones in Andersonville.  My teenage son was out of school so he joined us as well. What better way to celebrate MLK day than to dine on great food.  It was freezing outside so the look alike and I threw on some ugg boots and a hat. Chicago weather can be brutal.
We get to Big Jones and it is packed!!! We are finally seated in about 30 minutes and my mouth is watering for the skillet cornbread that everybody is ordering.  Big Jones had a special “Soul Food” menu this week and I was excited to try their cornflake fried chicken.  We ordered the skillet cornbread and the black eye pea fritters. I was blown away. The cornbread and fritters were delicious. We all opted for the cornflake fried chicken that came with rice and peas and greens. My son wanted a cheeseburger which he complained about after he tasted my chicken. Teenagers are funny to me. They act like it’s killing them to spend a little quality time with their parents.  Word of advice: Leave the teenagers at home LOL LOL

Now back to the food……the cornflake fried chicken was good but Toya said the regular fried chicken is better.  I highly recommend the fried chicken. See the rest of the menu at https://bigjoneschicago.com
